We hope you and your loved ones are all well and coping reasonably with life at the moment. It’s a very challenging time in many ways.
Firstly, it remains our intention to reopen the centre. This will be done in due course at an appropriate time, in line with guidance and good practice and when safe to do so. It isn’t possible to say when this will be yet. Suitable distancing and hygiene measures will be in place as/when the studio opens. As the studio is a self contained unit, with planning and care, we think it will be possible to adapt and operate in a safe manner when the time is right.
In the meantime the following is underway:
Trustees are proactively working on a new business strategy to adapt Yorkshire Yoga to suit the changed world we now all find ourselves in for the short term and beyond.
Grant applications are being submitted to hopefully access funding to support the centre and to enable students to join/participate/continue to attend who are unable to self fund attendance.
A skill review of Trustees and staff.
New/ additional Trustees, volunteers and staff appointments are planned to strengthen and positively progress the centre
A review and analysis of the views and wishes of our tutors and students is planned. Constructive, honest feedback will be very helpful to us in helping us plan and successfully reopen.
Setting up online classes
Centre Manager, Chris is on furlough at the moment. He and his wife recently welcomed a second daughter into their family.
Admin Assistant, Cara will not return to work at Yorkshire Yoga. She is safe and well, with her family at home.
Yorkshire Yoga was in a great position this spring. There was a strong broad timetable, new classes and tutors due to start, student numbers and income were steadily increasing month on month, we had increasing publicity/social media/local community awareness and some exciting new strong links and partnership work was planned with local key health organisations. Sadly this has all been paused, for the time being. We hope however to adapt and move forward again, having taken stock of our strengths and weaknesses, found ways to work with the new opportunities the changed landscape around us is providing. We hope to restart all the good things we were doing and had in the pipeline.
It remains clear to us that there remains a strong need and wish for a Knaresborough based health and wellbeing centre, accessible to all, providing exercise, holistic therapies, support, friendship and connection, for members of the local community and wider afield. The importance of good health can never be underestimated as we all currently appreciate now more than ever.
We hope you will be part of the next chapter for Yorkshire Yoga and look forward to seeing you again soon.
